This learning outcome discusses the process of cutting in clothing construction. After spreading and laying patterns on the spread fabric, cutting operation is done. It involves understanding the right cutting tools and equipment, cutting techniques, cutting the pattern pieces with strict adherence to the pattern markings, transferring the pattern markings on the fabric and bundling the pattern pieces after cutting so as to make work easier during garment assembly

This unit describes the competencies required to control environmental hazard, control environmental pollution, comply with workplace sustainable resource use, evaluate current practices in relation to resource usage, identify environmental legislations/conventions for environmental concerns, implement specific environmental programs and monitor activities on environmental protection/programs.   

We identify where to source fabrics and explore patternmaking, sizing and measuring a garment correctly. The course breaks down how to design a 'garment tech pack', which is critical to the production process and gives you the confidence required to produce your own clothing label .
